Baby burritos

Reed was never a baby that liked to be swaddled. He always managed to kick out of his tight cocoon in a matter of moments. What can I say, he has the Mihelich legs. So we gave up trying to do it.

I was commenting to Sue, our daycare provider...the baby whisperer, that Cora ALWAYS wants to be held or be close to me. If I was to get anything done, I needed to wear her in my sling. She asked if I was swaddling her. I told her that we had stopped similarly to Reed because she was always breaking out. We proceeded to have an inpromptu swaddling seminar. She informed me that due to our "athletic" children we need to wrap them extra tight. I want home tried it a few times to no avail. Cora kept "escaping." I kept trying different blankets until I found some larger sized receiving blankets that worked. And the swaddling has worked--not perfectly but pretty well. I can wrap her up and put her down and she is much more likely to drift off to sleep. Granted, she would rather do that in my arms, but that isn't always possible.

Reed seems to get a kick out of seeing Cora wrapped up like a little baby burrito. One night he grabbed a blanket and asked to be wrapped up too. So here are our baby burritos, laying on the floor, enjoying each others company. (Note: neither of these swaddles are good because of the blanket selection...this was more entertainment swaddling. Oh yeah, it really gets crazy at the Mihelich house.)
