With the birth of Baby #3 around the corner, we decided to have the kids' birthday parties a little early (about 1.5 weeks before Reed's and 5.5 weeks before Cora's birthday.) I just wasn't sure if I could host the festivities much later. There is technically still 2 more weeks until my due date, but really, who wants their hostess going into labor in the middle of a party? In the least the kids wouldn't be too happy about cutting the event short or canceling.
I think the combined birthday party was successful. I loved the theme and both kiddos really enjoyed it. Reed was really excited when he came downstairs the morning of the party to see the homemade shields and banners. He really, really loved them, he told me.

Opening Presents
Showing Off Gifts
Loving Her New Helmet
The only turmoil of the party was opening gifts with two children. It's always a bit chaotic, but doubly so when they both want to open simultaneously and we need to keep track of what presents came from whom. A special thanks to my mom for frantically scribbling the gifts down as they were being torn open. I know it wasn't an easy job.
The kids are getting their birthday presents from us on their actual birthday. Reed will be getting a bike and Cora is getting a tricycle. Technically they don't know this yet. At the party, as she was proudly showing off her new bike helmet, as if a realization hit her, her demeanor suddenly changed and she started sadly walking around saying, "No bike?" Poor girl. I almost wanted to pull her bike out, but we didn't have Reed's yet. I think she will probably be getting hers on Reed's birthday. I don't think I can see that sad expression again.
Thanks to all that attended the festivities. We had a great time!
