The Big Squeeze

Car seats tend to be large, cumbersome, and, of course, essential. With a third child incubating in my womb, the anxiety of fitting three car seats across the back seat of our SUV has been growing.

I've been researching online (on and off for months) the best combination of seats for the ages of my kids and the make and model of our vehicle. I found no definitive answers. I compiled as much information as I could and made an educated guess and purchased another seat.

I took advantage of Bob having Spring Break last week by having him install the seats. My Plan A did not work as I had planned (Reed in the middle in a booster seat, flanked by an infant seat and a convertible seat), but thankfully Plan B did (infant seat in middle.)

I was a bit reluctant to graduate the kids to the "next step" in car seats (moving Cora to forward facing and moving Reed to a high-back booster seat) but I did feel that they are very safe and are happy with the new configuration.

Here's proof of my happy children (and 20+ year old Cabbage Patch Preemie...to be replaced with newborn in the coming weeks)

Hooray! No last minute runs to the car dealership to buy a mini-van or other expensive vehicle with a third row. Phew!
