A Little June Bug

The last week or two has kind of been a blur. The days sometimes seem to fly by and sometimes they seem to drag on. The anticipation is building. In a matter of days, hours potentially, our family will be changing forever. I had been wondering, will I have another May baby or will it come in June? And we got that answer yesterday... June it is.

Even though I heard everything to the contrary, I was expecting this pregnancy to wrap up like the last one. I started having contractions for the first time four days before my due date, they continued to get stronger and stronger over the course of the next several hours, and I went to the hospital and had the baby several more hours later. Pretty textbook-like.

Pretty much every night for the last week I have started to have contractions starting about bedtime. I'd go to bed and try to get some rest with the expectation of heading to the hospital first thing in the morning or in the night. By morning, nothing. I don't know why I didn't believe all the books that say you have more "false labor" the second and later pregnancies.

I do feel like we are getting really close. The doctor says everything is ready to go. The baby is cooperating as is my body. I guess we are just waiting for that last minute chemical release that will send everything into motion. If that doesn't happen today or tomorrow, we are going to help things along on Friday. Yes, that means that we should have a baby by Friday at the latest.

How exciting! We are finally going to meet our new little baby and find out if Reed is getting a little brother or sister. He has made a final determination of what we should name the baby--he's settled on "Baby Hot Dog." He's also been trying out all the baby items that we've pulled out, either first hand or with the Cabbage Patch doll that he is practicing with. The Cabbage Patch has taken a few car rides in the car seat and he also straps her in the bouncy seat and gives her stuffed animals. Very sweet!

Keep us in your prayers and I will provide an update soon!
