Doing it his way

Bob has a way of doing the baby his way. The biggest thing that Bob took away from the Newborn Care class that we took before Reed's arrival was that the mother has her way of doing things with the baby and it is fine (and encouraged) for the father to have a completely different way of doing things. The baby will recognize and embrace the different parenting styles of Mom and Dad.

Most of the time, I bite my tongue and let Bob go. So sometimes Reed wears a striped bodysuit with pants of a different stripe pattern. Am I a bad mother and wife when I document the funnier incidents for later blackmail? Maybe so, but sometimes it's too funny not to capture on film.

See Exhibit A, a photo of a recent diaper change. Reed was enjoying himself when suddenly his Dad took the new diaper he was about to put on Reed's bottom and instead put it on his head. Suddenly Reed was enjoying himself much more and was sporting the Betsy Ross look. He seemed to find the whole situation pretty funny. We'll see how he feels in a dozen or so years.

In case you wanted to see an example of one of Bob's outfits, here's one of my favorites. This one was taken back when Reed was only about a month old. I think the yellow pants actually brings out the red in his hair a bit. Maybe Dad does know best.
