Two and a half months

We were a little slow to get Cora into the doctor for her two month checkup due to our vacation and the fact that they are really booked up right before the start of school. The doc says she looks great and has excellent head control. She's a great eater and continues to gain weight at a good clip.

Her current stats:
Weight: 11 lbs, 4 oz. (about 50th percentile)
Height: 23.5 in (about 75th percentile)

She had her first round of vaccinations, which she took like a champ. She cried after the first of the three shots, but once they were finished, I was able to quickly comfort her. At least this time I didn't have to be the Mom with the kid screaming bloody murder all the way to the car (and beyond).

My tough girl Cora!

My little Superman

Reed had his two year doctor's visit today. I had been dreading it a bit since I thought that Reed would probably be getting shots again like at many of the milestone checkups. In the last few months, he just seems to have grown so much intellectually that I felt like the shots would have a profound and lasting effect on him...an adverse one that would make him not want to go to the doctor again anytime soon.

He has gone to many of my routine checkups with my obstetrician where my weight, height, and blood pressure was taken and we measured my stomach and listened to the baby's heartbeat. He liked those doctor's visits and as far as I knew he didn't really remember his last few doctor's visits. When we got to the pediatrician's patient room, Reed told me to sit on the table. Sorry buddy, it's your turn!

The nurse took his height, weight, and head circumference, which he didn't seem to mind. He is currently 32 lbs (75th-90th percentile), 38" tall (over 95th percentile), and his head measurement (which I don't remember) was in the 75th-90th percentile.

Then we then talked to the doctor and Reed seems right on course developmentally. He let us know that Reed would only need one shot today, a second installment of an earlier shot. That was a relief. When the nurse gave him the shot in his arm, he watched the needle go in, gave a little whimper, but when Daddy reminded him that he was Superman today, he didn't even cry! He checked out the band-aid the nurse put on and then followed her out to get a sticker for being such a brave boy!

We are so lucky to have such a good, easy-going kid.

What's up, Doc?

Today Reed had a little bit of a rough day but he, the tough cookie that he is, never lets on to the camera. It was his 4 month check-up with the pediatrician today, which unfortunately for him meant shots. Apparently Reed had forgotten our last visit (and shots) because he looked around the exam room eagerly, checking out the gadgets on the walls and countertops. The nurse weighed and measured him. In case you were wondering his stats:

Weight: 14 pounds, 12 ounces
Height: 26.75 inches

So that's a little on the low side for weight and at the very top of the charts for length. He's long and lean, just like his 9 foot tall, oops, 6 foot 4 inch tall Daddy.

The Doc says he's on track developmentally and looks great. If anyone was wondering what happened with his earlier tests, everything is completely normal and Reed has a clean bill of health.

Reed had 3 shots in the legs (see band-aids above) and 1 oral vaccine (which he started with and was equally as bothersome as the other shots). He cried and cried, until we were packed up to leave and a cute, young nurse came over and he manage to stop crying and flash her a little smile, before losing it again.

After Reed took a little nap and woke up grumpy again, we went for a walk around the neighborhood, something he always enjoys and that was the case tonight too. He settled right down and as you can see from the photo, he was teasing and playing with his Dad when he got home from work. Reed's our little tough guy and he did great today!
