My little Superman

Reed had his two year doctor's visit today. I had been dreading it a bit since I thought that Reed would probably be getting shots again like at many of the milestone checkups. In the last few months, he just seems to have grown so much intellectually that I felt like the shots would have a profound and lasting effect on him...an adverse one that would make him not want to go to the doctor again anytime soon.

He has gone to many of my routine checkups with my obstetrician where my weight, height, and blood pressure was taken and we measured my stomach and listened to the baby's heartbeat. He liked those doctor's visits and as far as I knew he didn't really remember his last few doctor's visits. When we got to the pediatrician's patient room, Reed told me to sit on the table. Sorry buddy, it's your turn!

The nurse took his height, weight, and head circumference, which he didn't seem to mind. He is currently 32 lbs (75th-90th percentile), 38" tall (over 95th percentile), and his head measurement (which I don't remember) was in the 75th-90th percentile.

Then we then talked to the doctor and Reed seems right on course developmentally. He let us know that Reed would only need one shot today, a second installment of an earlier shot. That was a relief. When the nurse gave him the shot in his arm, he watched the needle go in, gave a little whimper, but when Daddy reminded him that he was Superman today, he didn't even cry! He checked out the band-aid the nurse put on and then followed her out to get a sticker for being such a brave boy!

We are so lucky to have such a good, easy-going kid.
