Visiting Family

The best part of our summer visit to Greenville was spending time with family members that we don't get to see as much as we would like. As usual, Reed and Cora loved playing with Owen and Willa. The boys pretty much stayed together, as did the girls. The boys enjoyed the new bunk beds that Granny bought and Willa was a great protector of Cora as she slept in a big girl bed for the first time at a house other than her own.

One of the things that the kids look forward to when they go to Brighton is the Betsy Ann Park, right by Grandma's house. They have the cool train car, the merry go round, swings, a big sunken tractor tire, a gazebo, and trees with holes for buried treasure. By today's standards, it's a pretty outdated park, but that seems to add to the majesty of it for them.

Grandma's Little Girls

We spent one week with Owen and Willa at Granny and P-pa's house before they went back home. We got to visit Grandma Maher twice at her house. We also got to see quite a few Reeds at the Shipman Picnic. I hadn't been in years and the kids had never gone. Because of the weather and bedtimes, we didn't stay long, but the kids adored the parade. There was loads of candy, lots of interesting tractors, and even their Great-Uncle Chuck pulling a model of the one-room school house.

Reed, Cora, and Kate definitely enjoyed their time at Granny and P-pa's house. Yes, even Kate seem more comfortable with them by the end of our trip. As we left, the kids were a little sad to go (though they were excited to see their Daddy back home), and we hadn't even gotten to the end of their driveway when Cora whined, "I miss Granny and P-pa."
