Reed's First Haircut

Tonight was Reed's first haircut. Yes, it only took 17 months but I finally cracked and allowed Reed's precious baby hair to be cut. It took so long to fill in that once he got it, it was like gold. But after a bad hair day on Tuesday I was finally ready...I mean I actually was a little embarrassed. I thought I had tamed the bedhead but when got to story time at the library most of the hair on the left, back side of his head was standing on end, sticking in every direction.

His hair was looking nice and orderly this morning when I dropped him off at daycare and our provider, Grandma Sue, asked if Reed got a trim to his hair. I recounted the story from the day before and she asked if I would like for her to give it a trim today. I said sure, but I think she read the apprehension on my face and revised her offer to trim his hair in the evening when I got there to pick him up. That was all it took and we agreed. I definitely didn't want to be the person doing the cutting but I really wanted to be there for the first big trim.

So here are the photos of Grandma Sue's Beauty Salon.

Step One: Distractions--
a plate of ground beef, a bowl of Cap'n Crunch Berries, a comb, a brush,
and there was even a cat at one point.

Step Two: Continue distractions

The theme of the haircut was make it look like he didn't get a haircut, which was perfect for a mommy that has a strange sentimental attachment to her baby's hair. Hey, it's beautiful red hair. I love it!
