Birthday Training

I thought I'd document Cora's preparation for her big First Birthday Party coming up in two weeks. She didn't want to be unprepared with all eyes on her, so we started our training back in mid-April. I think you can see her progress.

Cora, I think you've got it down. With all this training, your birthday, it will be a piece of cake!

Birthday Cake

Tuesday afternoon we had a birthday cake but no birthday girl. Yes, Cousin Willa turned three on Tuesday so Reed thought it was a swell idea to bake her a birthday cake...for us to enjoy. Hmm, I like the way he thinks :)

Reed decided on a yellow cake with cream cheese icing and sprinkles. What I learned was never turn your back on a child with a nearly full container of sprinkles. We had nicely distributed an even smattering of sprinkles, I turn my back, and then suddenly the top was popped off the sprinkle container and there was an enormous heap. So we decided to spread them out and Reed was quite pleased.

Proud of his (really, Willa's) cake

Here is a clip of him singing to Willa before we dived in:

Happy Birthday Willa!
