Beautiful Fall Weekend

My parents picked a beautiful weekend to visit. With temperatures in the 60s and sunny skies, we headed outside for some outdoor adventures. We headed to a local forest preserve along the Fox River to enjoying the colors of the changing autumn leaves. Here are a few photos from our day.

After enjoying a morning hike, we headed to the local Fire Barn Museum. Our neighbor tipped us off to the event when we saw the vintage fire truck parked on our street. The highlight was taking a tour of the neighborhood atop one of the old fire trucks.

We had a great visit and the kids loved spending some quality time with Granny and P-pa.

This is how Reed rolls

...in a Carhartt tractor t-shirt, rubber boots, and gardening gloves. Let fall cleanup begin!

Reed loves helping with yard work. He had his small rake that he was using, but then he discovered that he preferred picking up the leaves, putting them in the bucket, and then creating a pile. I take my workers anyway I can get them. We are trying to enjoy every beautiful fall day while they last!

Fall Leaves

Over the weekend, we had some beautiful fall weather. We headed out for a big walk around the neighborhood to stretch our legs, enjoy the weather, and take in the gorgeous colorful leaves of autumn. As we were getting near the end of our walk, we ran into our neighbors and their daughter raking leaves in their yard. Addie and Reed are buddies who often instigate each other. There's a lot of toy stealing mostly. They had a blast throwing and rolling around in the leaves. Reed's ornery trick was repeatedly stealing Addie's hat.

Look at all these leaves!

Look at the pom-poms on that cute hat and tell me it isn't tempting!

We could play in these leaves all day!

A special thanks goes out to Ang for capturing this precious memory of our silly little ones playing. I didn't bring my camera on the walk. However, being around my goofy son sometimes makes me think that I should carry it around everywhere we go.
