Blizzard 2011

The Blizzard of 2011, we heard about it for days. We waited. Is this for real, we'd think to ourselves? The prediction was for snowfall measuring up to 24 inches. It was supposed to start at 3:00 PM on Tuesday. That morning I preemptively canceled on Reed's 3:30 checkup with the pediatrician. While it snowed all morning (nothing crazy--our "appetizer" as coined by Tom Skilling), at about 2:30 I was starting to feel a little foolish for rescheduling the appointment. Then 15 minutes later, I couldn't believe that I was second guessing the situation. Heavy blowing snow started picking up and didn't stop for the next day.

All in all, we ended up with about 20 inches of accumulation, the third largest snowfall in Chicago's recorded history. I have some photos from various stages of the storm.
