They don't make 'em like they used to...

Nostalgically, we often refer to objects of yore with terms like well-built, made with integrity, built to last, etc. In most instance that is true, especially compared to our partical board and plastic society that we are living in today. However, we have figured a few things along the way to improve upon some designs. Take, for example, infant cribs. We hear of countless crib recalls and design standards are constantly evolving for the greatest protections of our babies. Kudos to that.

Here is a photo of the sturdy crib that was used as a bed for me and my siblings, still in great condition. This photo also illustrates two things, 1-why it is good that the slats in all cribs are now much closer together, 2-I have a little monkey baby that can get into the most precarious positions.

Ouch! Somehow she was sleeping soundly.

I hope I am not reported to DCFS for posting this photo taken at Granny and P-pa's house over Christmas. A crib that does not meet current requirements, with a blanket and a pillow. Who knew that sleeping could be so unsafe?

Hadley sleeps in my old crib at Grandma and Grandpa Potthast's all the time! I have yet to find her in that position!
