A play date at the mall

Reed had a very fun play date today and for that reason, I get this opportunity to write this blog. He is sound asleep. All the excitement tuckered the poor boy out. Our neighbor Adrienne and her son Quinton came by and picked up Reed and me and we headed to the mall. It was good for us moms to stretch our legs and get a little walking in. Then the boys played for a while on the kids area (which was surprisingly clean). The boys had a ball playing and watching all the other kids.

After the playground, we moved on to the carousel. It was a first for them both and they both seemed to like it, although Adrienne and I felt a little queasy for a minute when they got the thing up to full speed. It was going a little fast for my taste, but maybe that's just because I was clutching Reed. In case anyone is worried about Reed or Quinton's safety on the big horses, there were harnesses around them to prevent them from falling off.

All the playing had really worked up their appetites so snacking was next on the list. Thank goodness for finger foods. Quinton was also good at sharing today too. He was feeding Reed his cut up grapes and Reed was loving it.

I think Reed and Quinton will be enjoying many more play dates in the future. We are especially excited about the weather improving and play outside soon!

Our little brusher

For a few months now, Reed has had his two bottom teeth and with teeth comes the necessity for brushing them. On the days I work, it is pretty hectic in the mornings getting Reed and myself ready. One morning as I was brushing my teeth and balancing a squirming Reed on my hip, I realized that I need to keep him occupied better. What better way than let him do what I'm doing? We created a pretty good routine and every morning as soon as I go for the medicine cabinet, Reed gets really excited. I think he is happy that he is encouraged to put something in his mouth (like he needs the encouragement) when more often things are taken away so he can't put them in his mouth. I hope we are establishing a good habit. And for now at least, he really enjoys it.

Bob and Reed get to brush their teeth together on the weekends.

A Beautiful Wedding

This weekend, a dear friend of mine got married in Indianapolis. Sunny and I became friends in kindergarten and remained friends into high school and college. We were roommates for 4 years as we got our Bachelors and Masters degrees in architecture. It was such an honor to stand up with her as she married the man of her dreams. She is a perfectionist and it showed. Everything was beautiful. Here are four of her five bridesmaids (her sister Lacey isn't pictured)

P-pa and Granny took care of Reed most of the weekend. He had a great time, even though he is starting to look a little tired here. They fed him lots of different foods that he won't be getting again at home anytime soon and he loved it (namely, the cake). Friday and Saturday night he stayed up way past his bedtime but was a very good boy.

My thanks goes out to Sunny & Philip, her family, bridesmaids Jessica & Krista (partners in getting lost), Reed, and Mom & Dad for making it a super fun weekend!

Recovering from December

I would say that we aren't much for making resolutions, but after how busy and hectic it has been, our informal New Years resolution is to relax a bit and get everyone(mostly Reed) back on schedule. Here are some cute photos of my tired boys working on the relaxation.

A meeting of the Reeds

This year Bob, Reed, and I were unable to attend the extended Reed Family Christmas at the Reed Farm, so there were many relatives that did not get to meet our little Reed yet. However with the passing of Grandma Reed, we were all together...aunts, uncles, and cousins of all degrees. After the funeral services, we gathered at the farm like we always seem to do for Reed family functions. The house was buzzing with Reeds, but our little Reed was most interested in another little guy named Reed. My cousins Beth and Ken have a son also named Reed who is getting ready to turn 2. The older great-granddaughters have already dubbed them Reed 1 and Reed 2, but typically in the Reed family you don't get off that easy with your nickname. I guess only time with tell.

A New Year

Reed spent his first New Year's Eve with his Grandma and Grandpa Mihelich. He stayed up late...all the way until 9pm. Luckily, he slept well for Grandma and Grandpa and a good time was had by all. His first ever sleep-over was a success. Thank you Mom and Dad!
