Locks of Love
Last Thursday I had a little "extreme mom makeover." I decided to donate my hair to Locks of Love. The donated hair is used to make wigs for children, usually with permanent hair loss. They require 10" in length so that's what we did! Here are the results:
Reed also wanted an "after" photo taken too. I wish this was an "after the falling incident and his nose looks perfect again" shot, but it's certain not. Hopefully soon enough that nose will be healed up!

Wipeout!
Tonight as I pulled up to daycare, Reed was happily playing in their front yard with the providers, Sue and Philip. He was running around, happy as a lark, but as I got closer it became more evident that Reed had something of a rough day today. He must have got himself going faster than his feet could keep up and he tumbled face first onto their concrete walk.
We came home and all he wanted to do was run around with the neighborhood kids. His spirits were good but he just looks a little rough. I guess this stuff comes with the territory of having a boy.

A good night to be a Mommy
We have a pretty standard bedtime routine. Take a bath, drink a bottle, read some books, say prayers, and by then Reed is so tired that we put him in his bed and he snuggles with his blanket and falls asleep pretty quickly. Tonight he was a little crabby but we sailed through the bedtime routine pretty easily (besides a little "accident" in the tub) until we put him down to sleep. He was clearly tired but was fussing and crying when we left the room. He settled right down when I went back in so I decided to go sit on the floor by his bed awhile. He laid right down and tried to get comfortable to no avail. He sat up and leaned his head close to me and came in for a kiss. He happily laid back down, trying to find a comfortable position. About every minute or so, he would sit up and kiss me between the rails of his crib and lay back down in a new position. After probably a little over half a dozen times of doing this, he sat up one more time and waved at me. He laid back down and went to sleep. I just about melted. I am so lucky to have such a sweetie pie.

Babies we met and babies we hope to meet soon
It is exciting that more and more of our friends are having children. It's so fun to get to meet their pint sized offspring. This weekend we got the wonderful opportunity to meet two little guys and it was a blast.
Saturday we met up with architecture friends from U of I, Joe and Neely, and their 11 month old son, Xander. He is a cutie with the mostly stunning blue eyes. He and Reed played together quite well. Xander shared his toys very nicely with Reed and didn't even get upset when Reed tried to body slam him or knock him on the head with the plastic hammer or foam bat. They did kiss and make up (sorry boys, I forgot that I said I wasn't going to tell). It was great to see the boys together and to catch up with old friends.
Saturday was also the birth of baby Micah, the second son of our friends, Jeremy and Rachel. We've seen photos and he looks absolutely precious.
Sunday we got to meet another newborn, baby Nathan. He is the son of one of Bob's closest high school friends, Dave and his wife Erin. Less than 2 weeks old, Nathan slept so peacefully the whole time and was just adorable. I love that Reed is going to have so many boys to grow up with!
I feel like the baby explosion is continuing for the next several months. Our friend Christie and Clint are due in 2 weeks, Adrienne and Luke are due mid-October, Jen and Wes are due mid-January, and Sarah and Ryan are due in early February. Bring on the babies!
