Reed's First Christmas

We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas. The last two weeks have been quite hard with Bob's grandfather's passing and the flu/stomach virus that knocked us out pretty good. But finally with presents wrapped and house tidied, we were able to totally kick back last night and enjoy Christmas Eve at home in front of the fire. We had a great day with Bob's family today and tomorrow morning will head down south to visit my family.

I think Reed enjoyed Christmas this year, but he enjoys most things, as he is a very happy kid. His favorite things were climbing the presents, chewing on the presents, and tugging on the Christmas tree/decorations. Oh, and the gifts aren't too bad either. The video is a clip of Reed exploring the presents.

In Loving Memory

Our family is experiencing a great loss. Bob's grandfather passed away last night. He was 95 and had a pretty extraordinary life. He will be greatly missed. I am posting a little video of Grandpa and Grandma from back in November at our house after Reed's Baptism.

Little drummer boy

Who knew that a hat box could be so entertaining?! Reed was behaving himself so nicely as I was decorating the tree. It is such a relief to see that smile again. He handled his ear infections really well but he just wasn't his normal smiley self for several days. It's good to have a healthy baby again!

Adventures in Babysitting

I captured this photo last night of Grandpa working hard at his babysitting gig. The question is who put who to sleep first. I guess they both have a favorite chair now. I also know who to call when Reed doesn't want to go down for his nap.

Seven months

It's crazy how fast 7 months can fly by and even crazier how fast a baby changes in that amount of time. Just a week or two ago I was blown away that when I went to check on Reed in his crib, he had pulled himself up to sitting by himself. Just this morning I peeked in his room and he was standing up in his crib. Good thing we lowered the mattress on Sunday!

We made it through our Thanksgiving plans with only a few problems. We had a good drive down to Greenville Thursday night and Friday we went to Daniken Tree Farm and cut down our Christmas tree. Hooray for the Christmas season! We were having a great time until that evening when Reed came down with a fever. He handled it well but it was obvious that he wasn't his normal chipper self. We took it easy and did a lot of relaxing before we headed back to the Chicagoland area on Sunday. Because Reed still wasn't feeling well and a snowstorm was coming we left early and unfortunately missed my mom's Thanksgiving meal for the extended family. Monday, we went to the doctor and found out that Reed has two ear infections. Poor boy :( This Thanksgiving I am also thankful for antibiotics.
